All That Matters

Music can heal wounds like nothing else.

For the past week, I’ve been listening to the Finding Neverland musical soundtrack on repeat. Mom and I saw the musical last year on our birthday adventure in NYC, and I was mesmerized.

There’s a Jim Valvano quote that says “If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day.” Well, I did all that in the course of this musical production. So of course I needed the soundtrack.

This past Sunday, I stopped and pushed repeat on one song in particular. The words are astounding—and the song has meaning that everyone who knew and loved Pat Summitt could benefit from.

“I know you feel alone,

but we are here beside you.

She left the stars up in the sky

so they can guide you.

And you will see her in your dreams,

for Neverland is closer than it seems.

Just try to remember

all the things she taught you.

You made her proud to be alive—

how she adored you.

And I can see her in your eyes.

She’ll always be there by your side.”

Later, the words segue into a chorus that says “When your feet don’t touch the ground and your world’s turned upside down, you will fly…”

Fly, y’all.

P.S. Give the song a listen here.
